Tensions escalate in Sool region as Somaliland minister urges clan mobilization for conflict

|

BURCO (Kaab TV) – In a concerning development, Somaliland’s Interior Minister, Mohamed, has urged the Habar Jeclo clan to prepare for clan warfare against the Dhulbahante in the volatile Sool, Sanaag, and Cayn regions.

Addressing a clan meeting in Burco, the minister, along with other politicians from the same clan, discussed recent clashes between Dhulbahante and Habar Jeclo forces.

Mr. Kahin pledged logistical support and assured the Habar Jeclo militia of Somaliland army backup when the conflict erupts.

“Habar Jeclo has no other option but to defend its territory against Dhulbahante,” he asserted as described by sources in the meeting.

However, Waddani political party chairman Hersi Ali opposed the idea, advocating for a peaceful resolution before resorting to armed conflict.

As tensions rise, thousands of Dhulbahante and Darod clan militia have converged on Buqdharkeyn and Yeyle areas in the Sool region.

Recent clashes resulted in casualties and numerous homes being torched.

Allegations of an attack by SSC-Khatumo on Somaliland soil have been made, but SSC-Khatumo officials claim that Dhulbahante clan elders were attacked by Habar Jeclo militia during a visit to the Buq-dharkeyn rural village.

Residents are reportedly fleeing the area, heightening concerns over the escalating conflict.
