MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) – According to announcement made by prime minister Hamza Abdi Barre’s office, the Federal Government of Somalia has postponed the meeting of the National Discussion Forum, which was scheduled to begin in Mogadishu today, Saturday, after regional leaders withdrew.
A press release from the Prime Minister’s office confirmed the summit’s cancellation, criticizing technical challenges, and stated that it had been delayed for a brief period of time.
According to reports, the decision to postpone the conference is the consequence of a new political struggle that has had a significant influence on the heads of the two regional governments, which were previously aligned with the Federal Government.
The meeting is expected to focus on efforts to fight terrorism and the completion of the country’s constitution.
However, it is worth noting that the Puntland regional authorities have already declined to attend the meeting, citing their refusal to recognize the federal administration. Puntland Information Minister Mohamud Eidid Dirir stated that Puntland will only debate constitutional concerns if the federal government adheres to the legal system.
