Somali military officer and guards injured in Mogadishu bomb explosion

MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) – A Somali military officer and two of his guards were injured after a bomb explosion targeted their car in Mogadishu’s Kaxda district on Sunday.

Residents reported the huge explosion that hit the car of the military officer, identified as Captain Abshir Shafici of the Somali National Army (SNA).

At the time of the attack, there was a local protest with residents taking to the streets to protest against the district commissioner in Kaxda. It is not known if civilians were affected by the bomb explosion.

Bomb explosions remain the most urgent threat currently in Mogadishu due to the increase in the militant group’s operations within the Somali capital.

The police have not commented on the bomb attack.

The attack happened as Somali officials are preparing for the 64th anniversary of Independence Day, marked on July 1.
