Security Operation Launched in KM50 Area Amid Al-Shabaab Threats

|

MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) – A coordinated security operation is underway in the KM50 area, located about 50 kilometers southwest of Mogadishu, as Somali security forces and local militia join forces to combat Al-Shabaab militants.

Officials confirmed that the operation is aimed at countering the insurgent group, which has recently intensified its attacks in the region.

The area, particularly the main road between the towns of Marka and Afgoye—passing through KM50—has been heavily impacted.

The road remains largely restricted due to ongoing Al-Shabaab threats, severely limiting movement for civilians and commercial transport.

The joint security effort is part of broader measures to regain control and restore stability to the area.

While details about the operation’s progress are still emerging, local residents have reported increased military presence and sporadic gunfire.
