MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) — A suspected suicide car bomb, disguised as a vegetable transport vehicle, detonated at a security checkpoint in Mogadishu’s Dayniile district causing several casualties, as per medics and eyewitnesses.
According to Police spokesman Sadiq Adan Doodishe, a significant blast rocked the checkpoint at Warlalilska area, prompting security personnel to conduct initial assessments at the scene.
Eyewitnesses recounted the events, describing the explosion that occurred shortly after the vehicle approached the security checkpoint in the morning hours of Saturday.
Residents in proximity to the explosion reported a deafening blast that shook nearby buildings, causing windows to shatter.
Initial suspicions led security forces to inspect the vehicle, which tragically detonated during their investigation.
The Police spokesman revealed that two individuals have been arrested in connection with the suicide car bomb and will be interrogated.
The incident temporarily disrupted movement in the affected area, halting both pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
This attack is part of an escalating series of terror attacks in Mogadishu, despite ongoing security operations conducted by government forces.
