A delegation of the African Union met with Somali officials .

MUQDISHO (KAAB TV) –  A high-level group from the African Union, led by Gen. Cheick Dembele, Head of the AUC_PAPS Peace Support Division, met with government officials, representatives from ATMIS troop contributing countries (TCCs), and foreign friends in a series of talks. “The purpose is to discuss the security plans of the African Union Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).”

The multi-day meetings focused on crucial themes such ATMIS phase 3 mitigation and post-ATMIS security measures. On Thursday, the delegation met with ATMIS TCC leaders, foreign partners, and Federal Government of Somalia (DFS) officials to discuss these critical issues.

On Wednesday, the African Union mission, commanded by Gen. Cheick Dembele, met with senior ATMIS executives and representatives from the Swiss and French embassies at the ATMIS headquarters in Mogadishu. These debates were critical in explaining the discussions about ATMIS operations and future security plans.

The delegation’s travel to Mogadishu is part of a larger effort to engage with diverse organisations and conduct a collaborative risk assessment, as directed by the African Union’s Peace and Security Commission. This coordinated strategy demonstrates the African Union and its allies’ commitment to ensuring Somalia’s stability and security.

The discussions made during these meetings are intended to significantly contribute to the advancement of ATMIS security.
