MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) – Local citizens have announced plans for public protests in Mogadishu, setting Thursday, May 30 as the designated day for demonstrations, according to the organisers.

The protests, organized by various community leaders and activists, aim to address widespread frustrations over issues such as insecurity, systemic failure, massive corruption, and government incompetency.

Karar Adan, speaking on behalf of the organizers, stated that the protests will occur simultaneously in multiple locations across the city.

“The citizens of Mogadishu have endured enough,” Adan declared. “We are coming together to voice our grievances and demand immediate and tangible changes from the authorities.”

The planned protests come amid escalating tensions and a growing sense of dissatisfaction among the populace.

Residents have long complained about the deteriorating security situation, rampant corruption, and what they perceive as a lack of effective governance.

Authorities in Mogadishu are reportedly preparing for the protests, with armed security expected to block the protestors across the city. The response from the government and security forces to the demonstrations remains to be seen, as Mogadishu, a city partially influenced by militant groups, braces for what could be a significant public outcry.

Organizers are calling for a peaceful protest and are urging participants to remain non-violent and only carry placards while making their voices heard.
