Casualty Count Expected to Rise, Say Security Sources

MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) – More than 10 people have been killed and an unknown number injured after a suicide bomber detonated an explosive at Top Coffee, a popular coffee shop near the presidential palace, on Sunday evening.

Secuerity officials, however, say the number of casualty will likely rise.

The attack occurred around 11 PM local time.

Ambulance workers are still attempting to recover more bodies and injured individuals from the partially destroyed building.

Disturbing photos depict human body parts beneath collapsed walls.

No group has claimed responsibility for the incident yet.

Meanwhile, former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed condemned the attack in a brief statement:

“I condemn the barbaric attack on the young people visiting Top Coffee in Mogadishu tonight. This attack demonstrates the hostility of terrorist groups towards our youth, who represent the future of our country, and towards the businessmen who have invested in our nation.”
