MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) – A former Member of Somalia Parliament Ahmed Adan, originally from Somaliland, was discovered deceased in a hotel within the Hamarweyne district, Somalia capital according to police reports on Thursday.
The body of Adan, a prominent figure in Somali politics, was transported to Martini Hospital, where he was officially declared dead, stated police spokesperson Sidiq Dodishe.
Additionally, authorities have detained an individual who was present with Adan at the time of his passing.
This incident marks the second unsettling occurrence involving individuals from Somaliland in less than a week.
Just days prior, on Sunday, Abdinasir Muse, an employee of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in his apartment, believed to be a victim of strangulation.
While several individuals have been apprehended in connection with the case, further details remain undisclosed.
These unsettling events unfold against the backdrop of heightened tensions between Somalia and Somaliland, particularly fueled by the recent Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Ethiopia and Somaliland, which Mogadishu seeks to thwart.
