Gunmen Kill Deputy Rector of East Africa University in Bosaso

BOSASO (KAAB TV) – Gunmen shot dead the Deputy Rector of East Africa University, Dr. Khalid Ali Khalid, in the city of Bosaso, as confirmed by university officials who did not provide further details.

Three armed men shot the Deputy Chairman of East Africa University Bosaso, Dr. Khalid Ali, in front of his house in Bosaso early on Monday as he was preparing to go to his workplace.

The police in Bosaso have not yet provided details about the murder or the perpetrators.

Khalid was a long-time university lecturer before assuming a senior position at East Africa University.

“He was a highly regarded professor who will be greatly missed by the university,” said a colleague who requested anonymity due to safety concerns.

The identity and motive of the killers are unknown, but Puntland security forces have stated that they are conducting an investigation and have identified suspects.

Reports indicate that the suspects in the killing have not yet been apprehended.

In a separate incident, Bosaso police have arrested a woman accused of killing Mohamed Abdi Bile, a young man in Bosaso, on Monday.

Police officers say the victim was the son-in-law of the killer.

Police sources indicate that investigators suspect a family dispute might be involved in the murder.

Both incidents have greatly shocked the residents of Bosaso. Bosaso is the commercial center of Puntland and is home to the Bosaso port.
