KISMAYO (Kaab TV) – Jubaland leader Ahmed Madobe has made public a confidential memo he sent to Federal President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud two years ago, in which he requested the promotion of Jubaland security forces and members of the Danab special forces stationed in Kismayo.
In a statement released by Jubaland state media on Monday, Madobe’s administration alleged: “Hassan Sheikh Mohamud never responded but instead humiliated and denied the rights of the soldiers simply because they are from Jubaland.”
The memo included a list of soldiers recommended for promotion, among them Arab Dheeg Ahmed, the commander of the 5th Unit of the Danab forces.
Despite enduring relentless attacks from Al-Shabaab, Arab Dheeg and his unit have not received any promotions, according to Jubaland authorities.
The disclosure comes amid escalating tensions between the Federal Government of Somalia and the Jubaland administration.
Jubaland accuses Mogadishu of exploiting the issue of promotions to encourage mass defections among Jubaland’s security forces.
