MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) – Somalia’s Foreign Minister, Ahmed Fiqi, dismissed allegations that Ethiopia has violated Somalia’s national sovereignty, stating that there have been “no Ethiopian encroachments in Somalia.”
In an interview with Universal TV, Fiqi clarified that Ethiopia has not crossed into Somali territory. “If it does, Somalia will be prepared,” he asserted.
These remarks contrast sharply with the repeated statements made by Somalia’s Ambassador to the United Nations, who has told the UN Security Council that Ethiopia violated Somali sovereignty. Similarly, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has accused Addis Ababa of not respecting Somalia’s sovereignty in the past.
Fiqi also confirmed that Egypt delivered weapons last month after two military aircraft landed at Mogadishu airport. He emphasized that these weapons are intended for use in the fight against Al-Shabaab.
When asked about reports suggesting Egypt is attempting to deploy forces in Somalia as part of a proxy war with Ethiopia, Fiqi responded, “There is no decision yet” regarding the deployment of Egyptian forces in Somalia.
