MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) – In the aftermath of heavy rains that inundated Mogadishu’s main city streets, physically disabled individuals are facing severe challenges in their daily lives, 13 of the men told Kaab TV as they crawled today to the city.
Forced to navigate through flooded roads and muddy pathways, these individuals are finding it increasingly difficult to seek their livelihoods.
Gathering in the city center, the crawling disabled men shared their plight, expressing the hardships they endure due to the recent flooding.
They rely on begging as their means of survival, yet the flooded streets have rendered even this option inaccessible, they told Kaab TV.
“We have been confined to our homes for several days,” one member of the group Hassan Adan Ahmed said, “unable to venture out due to the impassable roads and the looming threat of being swept away by the flooding.”
The situation highlights the urgent need for improved infrastructure and support systems to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents, including those with disabilities, during natural disasters and adverse weather conditions.
As Mogadishu grapples with the aftermath of the rains, concerted efforts are required to address the immediate needs of vulnerable populations and to mitigate future risks.
