MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) – The Mogadishu police spokesman has refused to respond to questions regarding how armed Al-Shabaab militants managed to reach Liido Beach and who facilitated their access.
The militants, disguised in military uniforms, carried out a deadly attack that has left the city in mourning.
When questioned about the attackers’ access to the city, the police spokesman cryptically stated, “Nobody can stop those who want to die,” avoiding the crucial issue of how the terrorists, dressed in military attire, navigated roads that are heavily restricted for ordinary citizens.
The death toll from the devastating Liido Beach bombing last night has continued to rise. Hospital sources report that close to 40 people have been killed, with several others still missing. The number of injured individuals is estimated to exceed 100.
The attack, which targeted popular beachside restaurants, has once again highlighted the severe security challenges facing Mogadishu. Survivors and witnesses described scenes of chaos and mayhem as explosions and gunfire erupted, causing beachgoers to flee in terror.
Despite the outcry for accountability and answers, the authorities have yet to address the underlying issues that allowed this attack to occur.
The public remains in shock and demands clarity on how such a breach of security could happen in a city already on high alert.
This tragic event underscores the urgent need for effective measures and accountability to prevent future attacks and ensure the safety of Mogadishu’s residents.
