Somalia’s participation at the 10th World Water Forum Conference, where the National Water Initiative will be presented.

MUQDISHO (KAAB TV) –  As an important step towards addressing the global water problem, Somalia actively participated in the 10th World Water Forum, which took place in Bali, Indonesia, from May 18 to May 24, 2024.

The World Water Forum, held every three years, is the world’s largest water event, bringing together stakeholders from all over the world to collaborate and make progress on global water concerns.

The Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the World Water Council will jointly organise the 2024 World Water Forum, with the theme “Water for Shared Prosperity.” The forum presented a unique opportunity for the water community and key decision makers to collaborate on improving water resource efficiency and integration.

The Somali delegation to the forum was led by Mohamed Abdullahi, Minister of State for Energy and Water, who emphasised the country’s commitment to realising the aim of “Shared Water Prosperity”. Senator Hussein Mohamed Dahir also attended the event and highlighted Somalia’s national water policies. These operations include building new wells, restoring old water sources, and developing a complete water management strategy.

During the event, Somalia spoke with other countries about the importance of water resources in the Horn of Africa. This involvement demonstrates the country’s dedication to promoting regional cooperation in water management and addressing water scarcity issues.

The 10th World Water Forum attracted 30,000 attendees from 172 nations. to ensure everyone has access to safe drinking water. As the globe faces the challenges of climate change and population increase, Somalia’s participation in the meeting reflects its commitment to finding a long-term solution to water scarcity and enhancing water security for its residents.

Finally, Somalia’s active participation in the 10th World Water Forum demonstrates the country’s determination to solve water scarcity and promote sustainable water management. Somalia is contributing significantly to the international effort to attain “Shared Water Prosperity” by collaborating with other countries and sharing its national water programmes.
