MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) –The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has underlined his administration’s commitment to implementing the “one person, one vote” election system. This system attempts to give the community the ability to directly elect their representatives at all levels, from local councils to the highest office of the President.
President Mohamud emphasised the necessity of carrying out this electoral promise, citing the democratic principles of participation, transparency, and popular participation in governance. The implementation of “one person, one vote” is a significant emblem of Somalia’s democratic path, enabling for better accountability and representation of people’s voices in decision-making processes, he said
President Mohamud also discussed the Ethiopian problem, demonstrating Somalia’s willingness to pursue all diplomatic options for resolution. He emphasised that the government is devoted to the peace of all who reside in Somalia as well as the defence of the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He did, however, emphasise how the country is prepared to defend itself if necessary, and he urged Somalis to prepare for the security of their homeland.
In order to overcome regional obstacles and maintain peace, the President emphasised diplomatic balance, national unity, and a steadfast commitment to Somalia’s independence. His remark came at the same time that Somaliland inked a maritime pact with Ethiopia, demonstrating the region’s geopolitical activity.
