HARGEISA (KAAB TV) – Somaliland authorities have announced plans to conduct a postmortem examination on the body of Abdinasir Muse Abdirahman, a 32-year-old air traffic controller whose murder in Mogadishu on Sunday, February 19th, appears to be politically motivated.
The UK-educated air traffic officer’s body was discovered inside his apartment in Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital, on the evening of February 19th.
Following the tragic incident, his remains were transported to Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland, where he was originally from, and arrived on Saturday, February 24th.
Mohamed Kahin, the Interior Minister of Somaliland, stated that while the government will organize a national funeral for Abdinasir, they will first conduct a postmortem examination to determine the circumstances surrounding his murder.
Upon the arrival of the plane carrying Abdinasir’s body, his family gathered at Hargeisa Egal International Airport.
“I am relieved that I saw the body of my son. He was killed for his identity of being Somalilander,” expressed Muse Abdirahman Haji Abdi, the father of the deceased.
Minister Kahin further disclosed that the burial will take place in Gebiley town, located outside Hargeisa, which is Abdinasir’s birthplace.
A large gathering of both the public and government officials is expected to attend the burial service to pay their respects to the late air traffic controller.
