MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) – In the early hours of Saturday morning, suspected Al-Shabaab militants launched a devastating attack on Tabeelaha Market, located along the Afgoye-Mogadishu corridor.
Residents report that the attackers planted explosive devices, triggering an immense fire that engulfed numerous shops and stalls.
Eyewitnesses fear that hundreds of shops have been destroyed in what appears to be a coordinated assault targeting businesses that had recently installed CCTV cameras.
The fire spread rapidly, fueled by the densely packed market, leaving a trail of destruction and significant financial losses.
This attack comes just a week after Al-Shabaab militants targeted Ceelasha Biyaha Market on the outskirts of Mogadishu, resulting in millions of dollars in damages.
The militant group previously struck Bakaro Market, one of the largest and most vital commercial hubs in the capital, further exacerbating the economic toll on the city.
As of now, there has been no official response from Somali authorities regarding the incident.
