MUQDISHO (KAAB TV) – The CID’s criminal investigation department has released ten suspects charged with the killing of Nasir Muse Abdirahman, the former chairman of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority, also known as Dahable.
The decision to release the suspects after a combined assessment by Somali forensic experts and the Turkish Police’s forensic laboratory. The investigation determined that “there was no substantial evidence linking the released individuals to the crime of murder.”
The relatives of the accused persons, together with their legal representation, have been advocating for a quick resolution to the case, citing new evidence from the crime lab. They recommended the accused’s immediate release awaiting the conclusion of the investigation.
This comes after a recent dispute between the Federal Government of Somalia and Somaliland. Last Monday, the Somaliland administration accused the Federal Government of mistreating members of Parliament who paid visits to the detainees and demanded their release immediately.
