MUQDISHO (KAAB TV) – MUQDISHO (KAAB TV) – The last meeting of the Technical Staffing Group for Ministry Stabilization was headed by Aidarus Moallim Hassan, Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Federal and Reconciliation, and was held at the Ministry’s headquarters. According to a Ministry release, top government officials attended the conference “to discuss the progress achieved in the stabilisation and early recovery of Somalia as a whole.”
Hon. Omar Hashi, the President’s Special Envoy for Stabilization and Civil Protection, attended the event and emphasized the necessity of coordinating government efforts to support stabilization and early recovery. “Effective cooperation between all sectors of government is critical to the success of our stabilization efforts,” the Hon. Paper said.
Members of many ministries, including Interior, Education, Public Works, Health, Water, Defense, and Homeland Security, delivered updates on the stabilization and recovery efforts in their respective offices. The goal of these projects is to restore stability in places that have been taken over by the extremist group Al-Shabaab.
Prof. A/llahi Sheikh Ali, the Senior Adviser to the Ministry of Interior, emphasized the importance of strengthening local police agencies in order to maintain law and order in freed areas. “Safeguarding the work of local law enforcement is essential to the stability and security of these regions,” stated the politician.
Brigadier General Madey Nurey Sheikh, Deputy Commander of the Somali National Army, expressed his confidence that Al Shabaab will be defeated. “Our army is completely prepared, on the front lines of the fight, and waiting for the order to launch the attack. “We intend to eliminate Al-Shabaab by June,” declared Brigadier General Sheikh. This follows President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s one-year plan to eradicate the Al-Qaeda-linked group and end 17 years of conflict, which began in January of last year.
