Dhusamareb(KAAB TV) – A meeting was held in Dhusomareb city between the Federal Government’s Ministers of Internal Security and Regional Governments, as well as the Police Command, to discuss security issues, while the departure of ATMIS personnel continues.

The Federal Government of Somalia’s Minister of Security, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Faratag, stated that the meeting, which would last two days, will be held to enhance the police forces at the federal and state level.

“Cooperation between Ministries of Security and Police Commands at both levels is critical to achieving National Security goals. The Internal Security Strategic Plan, particularly when the ATMIS is released, is designed to deliver effective results promoting security and peace. “Somalia,” Minister Faratag declared.

Since the beginning of 2023, ATMIS has successfully trained 1,101 Somali police officers across the country, including 193 women.

However, last month of January, the American Command in Africa, ATMIS, said that they have handed over nine military bases to the Somali government, which means that the second phase of the military presence in the country has ended.
