Nairobi (KAAB TV) Bihi Iman Cige, Somalia’s Finance Minister, recently attended the Horn of Africa Cooperation Organization’s 21st Ministerial Meeting in Nairobi.
The quarterly meeting was intended to assess and evaluate the status of current initiatives supported by various donors since 2019, as well as to ensure the efficiency with which they are implemented.
The meeting also examined the border cooperation system, with a report provided by the committee charged with approving the year 2023.
The event welcomed new contributors who are committed to assisting East African countries’ development aspirations while promoting regional collaboration.
Minister Igeh emphasised the importance of regional integration in Somalia’s economy during his address, demonstrating how it may enhance domestic production and overall economic growth.
He stressed that the well-implemented plans of the Horn of Africa Cooperation Forum will bring substantial economic benefits to Somalia.
The Horn of Africa Initiative, established in 2019, aims to promote economic integration and development in the region through various projects and initiatives.
The quarterly ministerial meetings serve as a forum for member countries to review progress, discuss challenges, and plan for future cooperation.
The participation of the Minister of Finance of Somalia in this high-level meeting underlines the country’s commitment to regional cooperation and its commitment to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the Horn of Africa Initiative to drive economic growth and development.
