BOOKH, Ethiopia (KAAB TV) – At last three trucks reportedly carrying weapons and believed to be destined for Puntland have crossed into the Puntland state of Somalia, local sources informed Kaab TV on Friday.
The incident follows a brief clash between local militiamen and Ethiopian Liyu Police, who were escorting the convoy, in the town of Bookh, near the Somali-Ethiopian border, on Thursday night.
The Somali clan militiamen have attempted to ransack the trucks but were repulsed by the Liyu Police, sources said.
In response, Puntland is said to have deployed its elite security forces to the region.
As of now, no official statement has been made by Puntland authorities or Ethiopian officials regarding the situation.
