Hezbollah Strikes Extend Deeper into Israel, Netanyahu Vows to Take Action

|

BEIRUT, Lebanon (KAAB TV) –  Hezbollah’s recent strikes have reached further into southern Israel than any previous attacks since the current conflict with the Iranian-backed militia began on October 8.

This escalation marks a significant shift, as the conflict, which has seen cross-border fighting since Hamas’s initial attack on Israel on October 7, has now spread beyond its previous confines.

The violence comes on the heels of Israeli airstrikes in Beirut, indicating that the ongoing conflict is spilling out of the border region, where it had been largely contained in recent months.

The conflict escalated dramatically after Hamas attacked Israel, resulting in the deaths of approximately 1,200 people and the abduction of 251 hostages, drawing Hezbollah into the fray as a key ally.

Hezbollah has maintained a substantial presence along the Israel-Lebanon border, with thousands of fighters and a significant missile arsenal since Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon in 2000.

Founded in the early 1980s to oppose Israel, Hezbollah has evolved into a formidable political and military force, backed by Iran.

In response to the escalating violence, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel will take “whatever action is necessary to restore security” and ensure that residents along the Israel-Lebanon border can return safely to their homes.

In a video statement on social media platform X, Netanyahu accused Hezbollah of launching unprovoked attacks since October 8, which have displaced around 60,000 Israelis.

“No country can accept the wanton rocketing of its cities,” Netanyahu asserted, emphasizing the urgent need for action against the ongoing aggression from Hezbollah.
