GAROWE (Kaab TV) – In a joint statement today, federal MPs and members of the Puntland parliament strongly condemned President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s recent unilateral electoral decision, following a week of discussions.
The leaders expressed grave concerns about Somalia’s current direction, citing contentious oil agreements with foreign companies, including Turkey, and the escalation of clan conflicts throughout the country.
The MPs further warned that recent constitutional changes were made without consensus, deeming them illegal.
This statement comes just hours after the National Consultative Council concluded a month-long series of meetings in Mogadishu, which were held without the participation of Puntland and Jubbaland representatives.
In a communiqué, President Mohamud’s office announced plans to form a federal electoral committee under federal control, despite lacking full regional support, intensifying existing political tensions.
