Somali government forces launched operations against Al-Shabaab in the Gedo area.

LUUQ (KAAB TV) – The federal government has begun strong operations against AS in the areas between Luuq and Dolow districts in Jubbaland’s Gedo region, and there have been reports of fight between the two sides in several areas.

Major General Osman Niiniile, commander of the 10th Battalion of the 43rd Division of the National Army, stated that the forces will continue to conduct operations to ensure security, particularly in Luuq and Dolow.

Major Osman said the government soldiers are committed to continue their operations because they are preventing traffic from being shut off on the critical highways connecting Luuq and Dolow in the Gedo Region.

Many federal government personnel and newly trained soldiers are stationed in the Gedo region.
