MOGADISHU (KAAB TV) —Several civilians were injured after a series of mortar rounds struck various districts of the Somali capital, Mogadishu, on Saturday night.
Residents in Yaaqshiid, Hamar Jajab, and areas near the Villa Somalia presidential palace reported hearing loud explosions, which sent waves of fear and confusion throughout the neighborhoods.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of panic as people ran for shelter, with several rounds hitting the area near Peace Garden, where civilians had gathered. The attacks caused widespread alarm as families sought safety amid the ongoing chaos.
Authorities have yet to issue a statement identifying the group behind the overnight strikes.
The incident comes just days after a separate mortar attack targeted Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport, forcing those present to flee for safety.
While no group has claimed responsibility for these latest attacks, Al-Shabaab militants have historically been linked to similar incidents in the capital.
